Abstract: | Researcher has selected the present topic for research to find out the newlinelevel of socio-economic indicators of HDI in Parbhani and Latur districts. newlineBoth the districts Parbhani and Latur failed to cross the state level average of newlineHDI in both State HDR- 2002 newlineand 2012. All districts of Marathwada region newlineare backward in terms of human development as per Maharashtra State HDR newline2002 and 2012. newlineParbhani district was formed in 1853 and Latur district was formed in newline1982. Latur is known as the hub of quality education at the level of primary, newlinesecondary, and higher secondary. Parbhani district has no such special newlineidentity, but both the districts stand nearby in the value of HDI. Thus it is newlinenecessary to identify the barriers of Human Development at the district level newlinein both districts. newlineDistrict Human Development Index is an important tool for newlineintegrated district planning, assist district Planning and Development newlineCommittee (DPDC), government to allocate public resources towards newlinebackward area, assist DPDC to reduce economic and social backwardness newlinewithin district. newlineThe present study is the sincere attempt to construct HDI and newlinecompare HDI values for Parbhani and Latur district. This study would be newlinehelpful to make proper decision and policy to develop competence. This newlinestudy is important for strengthening district level planning. This study will newlinehelp to identify district level issues related to Human Development and newlinefacilitate planning. newlineThe thesis consists twelve chapters, first chapter is Introduction. In newlinethis chapter researcher has presented a brief review of economic thoughts newlineand concept of development and human development. Researcher has newlinepresented importance of national and sub-national human development newlinereports and human development index. newline |
