Background: newlineDiabetes is an endocrinological disorder, and serves as major cause of morbidity and mortality. In the developing world herbal formulations are preferred due to minimal side effect and low cost over the secondary failure rate and high cost of synthetic drug. The present study aims formulation, standardisation and evaluation of clinical efficacy of formulation. Selected antidiabetic herbs consists ray of phytoconstituents which not only work on diabetes but also control the secondary consequences raised due to diabetes. newlineAim: Preparation, standardization and clinical investigation of Polyherbal antidiabetic tablet. newlineMaterials and Methods: Antidiabetic tablets were prepared by Combining Momordica charantia, Gymnema sylvestre, Tinospora cordifolia, Withania somnifera, Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Curcuma longa. Raw material was subjected to proximate analysis and phytochemical investigation as part of standardisation. Polyherbal tablets were prepared by wet granulation method and were characterized for description, hardness, thickness, weight variation, friability and disintegration time. The formulation was also subjected to stability study. Acute, sub-acute toxicity studies were performed on developed formulation as per OECD guideline. The antidiabetic potential was evaluated by using STZ induced diabetes in wistar albino rat model. Antidiabetic effect of formulation was clinically investigated in 20 type II diabetic patients in open parallel clinical trial. FBS, PP2BS, HbA1C and lipid profile were estimated at day 0 and day 90. newline
