Abstract: | newline Effectiveness of Tai Chi in the treatment of peripheral vestibular disorders of newlineear A quasi randomized control trial newlineStudy Design: A Quasi Randomized Control Trial. newlineObjective: To determine the effect of Cawthorne Cooksey exercises and Tai Chi newlineexercises in the treatment of peripheral vestibular disorders of ear. newlineBackground: Tai Chi is one of the rising numbers of alternative therapies for treating newlinevariety of human impairments, including posture and balance disorders. Cawthorne newlineCooksey exercises are routinely advised in vestibular disorders. However there is newlinedearth of literature on Tai Chi in peripheral vestibular disorders. Hence, the present newlinestudy is intended to determine the effectiveness of Cawthorne Cooksey exercises and newlineTai Chi exercises in the treatment of peripheral vestibular disorders of ear. newlineMethods: Institutional ethical clearance was obtained prior to the commencement of newlinethe study. Peripheral vestibular disorder subjects were included in the study, after newlinefulfillment of inclusion and exclusion criteria. A written informed consent was newlineobtained from all the subjects who were willing to participate in the study. Among newline105 subjects, 75 subjects were of recurrent BPPV and 30 subjects were of Definite newlineMeaniere s disease. Convenient sampling technique was used to allot subjects in to newlinegroup A, B and C sequentially. Group A Control Group received only routine medical newlinemanagement, Group B received Cawthorne Cooksey exercises along with routine newlinemedical management and Group C received Tai Chi exercises with routine medical newline newline newlineXII newline ABSTRACT newlinemanagement. DHI measures and vertigo symptoms were recorded on day one pre newlineintervention and after two months of post intervention. newlineResults: DHI score of recurrent BPPV and Definite Meniere s disease in all three newlinegroups showed statistically significant difference when analyzed within the groups pre newlinetreatment and post treatment with and#8219;p value lt 0.001. When compared between the newlinegroups, Cowthorne Cookse |
