Abstract: newline Background: The autologous auricular cartilage is the most ideal for the correction newlineof the moderate type of dorsal deformities in Rhinoplasty. To have a smooth and newlinesoft natural looking dorsum, the grafts need to be conditioned by scoring, dicing or newlinecrushing by morselizer. But to evaluate the fate of these implanted grafts some time newlineit becomes quite difficult as there is probability of some morbidities, and it is not newlinealways possible to get the material for the microscopic analysis along with newlineimpractibility of having the expected duration of analysis for the anticipated newlineoutcomes. newlineObjectives: To evaluate and assess the bahavior of an implanted autologous newlineconchal cartilage with attached perichondrium on both the sides, as a crushed and newlinenoncrushed graft and to assess the fate of the same by evaluating the various newlinehistological parameters and to consider the feasibility of the extrapolation of the newlineresults of the study in cosmetic correction of the nose in human beings. newlineMethodology: In this animal model study,24 healthy adult male Newzealand white newlinerabitts were Enrolled and further devided into three groups that is A,B, and C with newlineeight rabbits in each group. Then a crushed and another noncrushed autologous newlineconchal cartilage grafts each measuring 10x10 mm were implanted in subcutaneous newlinepockets at paraspinal area of the respective animal. And these were explanted after a newlineduration of 2, 4 and 6 months respectively depending on the groups. All types of newlinegrafts were studied histopathologically in relation to various parameters and newlinecomparative evaluation was done. newlineResults: Total of 96 grafts materials were evaluated, distributed equally in both newlinepreimplant and explant categories comprising total of 48 crushed and 48 newlinexiii newlinenoncrushed types grafts. Comparatively there was not considerable difference newlinenoticed in cartilage mass and perichondrial coverings in preimplant and explant newlinegrafts, but marginal histopathological and statistical difference in relation to newlinechronic inflammation, vascularity, collagen content, loss of
