dc.description.abstractvariety of biologically active compounds with unique structures and pharmacological newlineproperties have been reported to occur in marine sponges. The present study was newlineundertaken to provide information about bioactive compounds of Spongosorites newlinehalichondriodes (order Halichondrida, family Halichondriidae) a predominant marine newlinesponge collected from western coast in Khardanda, Mumbai. This work investigated the newlineantibacterial, antifungal, cytotoxicity antiinflammatory and immunological properties of newlineS. halichondriodes. Antimicrobial studies used Proteus vulgaris, Bacillus subtilis, newlineStaphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, newlinePsuedomonas aeruginosa and three pathogenic fungi, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus newlineniger and Metarhizium anisopliae for the test. newline
