Abstract: newline Background: Plants of medicinal importance though are quite well known among the newlineIndigenous system of medicines practitioners since thousands of years, yet many of them newlinehave not been standardized or biological evaluation completely. Among such medicinally newlinevaluable plants Sapindus emarginatus Vahl. (Sapindaceae) and Morinda pubescens J.E.Sm. newline(Rubiaceae) are use in rural or tribal area as a ethno-botanical. The present study reports newlinethe phytochemical evaluation of S. emarginatus Vahl. and M. pubescens J.E.Sm. bark newlineextracts for hepatoprotective and nephroprotective activity. newlineObjectives: To conduct a systemic evaluation of the medicinal values bark of S. newlineemarginatus Vahl. and M. pubescens J.E.Sm. which include pharmacognostic, newlinephytochemical evaluation and in - vivo hepatoprotective and nephroprotective activity in newlinewistar rats. newlineMethodology: The S. emarginatus Vahl. and M. pubescens J.E.Sm. bark was selected for newlinepharmacognostical study like macroscopic and microscopic characters, extractive values, newlinemoisture content and ash values. Phytochemical evaluation including bark of S. newlineemarginatus Vahl. and M. pubescens J.E.Sm. extracted with ethanol and water each newlineseparately. Each bark of ethanol and water extracts fractionated with organic solvents and newlinesimultaneously carried out preliminary phytochemical screening test. Ethyl acetate newlinefractions used for separation, isolation and confirmation phytoconstituents through newlinechromatography methods i.e. TLC, Column, HPLC and HPTLC; spectroscopic methods newlinei.e. UV, IR, Mass and NMR etc. Pharmacological study including hepatotoxicity was newlineinduced in wistar rats by oral rout of paracetamol 2000 mg/kg/day for ten days. The newlinetreatment was done with silymarin 50 mg/kg/p.o., bark of S. emarginatus Vahl. and M. newlinepubescens J.E.Sm. ethanol and water
