Abstract: This descriptive research work is an empirical study to understand the fund selection behavior of the investors and to study the factors influencing behavior in Uttarakhand. newlineIt finds out the relationship of socio-demographic and economic factors with investment preferences towards various financial avenues and the most preferred financial avenue in Uttarakhand. newlineThe respondents were 600 individual investors .The data was collected through structured questionnaire. Section 1 is analysis of socio demographic factors indicating 60.2 percent of the total sample were males whereas 39.8 percent was females.53 percent were of the age below 30 years. The study concludes that 39.5 percent postgraduates 57.3 percent married and 35.5 percent salaried class.The study reveals that maximum respondent belong to income group less than 2 lacs . The section II dealt with analyzing and testing of hypothesis framed. For this chi square and contingency coefficient was used.. For this research work, five research hypothesis are framed and after analysis it was concluded that all five research hypothesis were accepted. newlineIt finds that the awareness of investors is moderate. The Factor that Influences the Investor Most is Electronic/Print media . Individual investors in Uttarakhand in general are risk averse and invest in safe alternatives. The study reveals that the majority of respondents preferred for all the factors and showed equal preferences for all the factors followed by safety.It reveals that investors invest in safe and high return investment. newlineFollowing Suggestions are that policy makers must strengthen the financial market. Encourage females participation in investment. Provide concessions or tax benefits to underprivileged, Devise financial product that caters to the need of investors. Organize Advertisement Campaign to enhance financial awareness. The study provides scope for further research that can be carried out in future on specific segments such as female investors etc. newline newline newline
