Abstract: newline Background: Cancer is uncontrolled cell proliferation due to mutations and genetic newlinechanges leading to mortality. In India, around 5, 55,000 people were died due to newlinecancer. Oral cancer is ranking number one among all types of cancers. Skin cancer is newlinecommon form of cancer in USA. In India, skin cancer constitute about 1-2% among newlineall types of cancers. Most of the anticancer drugs are derived from the natural sources. newlineDoxorubicin, Daunorubicin, Vincristine, Vinblastine, Mitomycin, Streptozocin, newlinePaclitaxel, Etoposide and Tenoposide are some of the established anticancer drugs in newlinethe market. Improvement in the treatment of cancer has not been observed in recent newlineyears. Though the present cancer therapy improves the quality of life of patients, newlinesurvival rate of patients during last five years has not improved in the past decades. newlineAim and Objectives: The aim of the research work was to evaluate the isolated newlineconstituents from leaves of Caesalpinia bonduc (Linn.) and Ficus benghalensis newline(Linn.) for antioxidant and cytotoxic activity. Objectives of the study include newlineevaluation of antioxidant, immunomodulatory and cytotoxic activities of extracts and newlinetheir fractions, evaluation of the inhibitory activity of extracts and fractions on newlineMMP-2 and MMP-9. Then, evaluation of antioxidant activity, cytotoxic activity and newlinecharacterization of the isolated phytoconstituents. newlineMethodology: Hydroalcoholic extracts of both the plant materials were obtained by newlinemaceration. Antioxidant activity was carried out by DPPH and ABTS assay. newlineImmunomodulatory activity was assessed by NBT assay, Phagocytosis of killed newlineCandida albicans and candidacidal assay. Inhibitory activity on MMP-2 and MMP-9 newlinewas carried out by gelatin zymography. Cytotoxic activity against KB, A431, NIH3T3 newlineand L929 was carried out by using MTT assay. Flash chromatography technique was newlinexii newline newlineused for the isolation of phytoconstituents. Physical and spectral methods were used newlineto characterize the isolated constituents. newlineResults: Antioxidant activ
