Ceric ammonium nitrate, a powerful single electron oxidant appeals more newlineand more with progress and explored facts and findings, and has paramount newlineinfluence in organic synthesis especially in the field of radical chemistry. CAN newlinehave been emerged as effective catalyst and has been used to accomplish a broad newlinearray of synthetic transformations. The versatile one electron oxidant CAN has newlinegreat synthetic potential and the transformations are carried out usually under mild newlineconditions in good yield. The central theme of the organic synthesis scenario is newlinecarbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions which constitute the newlinemajor progress in modern synthesis and dependent on the development of novel newlinemethodologies for the same. Recently, C-C bond forming reactions mediated by newlinecerium (IV) nitrate (CAN) have been the subject of considerable interest and a lot newlinemore attention has been paid to the use of CAN in C-heteroatom bond forming newlinereactions. Carbon-heteroatom bond formation and its significance in organic newlinesynthesis is widely acknowledged by chemists as heteroatom chemistry plays a newlinesignature role in organic synthesis, medicine and in agricultural chemicals and as a newlineconsequence this is an ever green area with flurry of activities dedicated to newlinedevelopment of novel methodologies. Ceric ammonium nitrate and its utility as newlineversatile reagent for carbon-carbon and carbon-hetero atom bond formation, here newlinein present thesis we tried to focus on C-C and C-heteroatom bond formations and newlinecyclisation effected by CAN, as easy workup, descent yields and short reaction newlinetimes and also tried to explore explores the potential applicability of CAN in some newlineimportant synthetic transformations and the results obtained here in different newlinechapters. newline
