Abstract: The head of school is considered to be the centre of all activities happening in newlinethe institution. In the present century, the duties of head are increased and have newlinecovered many things at one time such as maintaining discipline, care of the students, newlinedistribution of equipment, recording and reporting as well as organization and general newlinemanagement and supervision of the total building etc. Apart from the teaching newlinelearning process, there are certain other activities which support overall management newlineof school. All these activities are interactive and inter-related. Thus, leadership is newlineimportant to plan, direct, supervise and evaluate school programs. newlineThe School Head is a team leader and the spirit of cooperation permeate his newlineentire dealings with the staff, pupils and community but today his present status has newlinechanged. He has too spend much time on clerical work, work on paucity of funds for newlineadditional projects, shortage of time for linking the school with the public and parents, newlineapathy of parents towards the school, pressure by higher authority or by management newlinefor admission or promotion of students. newlineBesides these, there is a lack of interest among teacher in doing their work newlinehonestly and sincerely, resentment shown by extra work and longer working hours, in newlinediscipline among teachers who are more right minded than duty-minded. newlineThe study investigates the administrative behaviour of the school heads newlineincluding the aspects-planning, organization, communication and decision-making. newlineThe objectives of the study are i) To collect the information about the present status of newlinethe administrative behavior of the secondary school heads. ii) To determine the newlinefollowing aspects of administrative behavior of secondary school heads. i) Planning, newlineii) Organization, iii) Communication, iv) Decision making, iii) To compare the newlineAdministrative behavior of the school heads between following.
