Abstract: Power Transformers play a very important role in power system These transformers are affected by lightning and switching surges These surge voltages have detrimental effects on transformer windings unless protective measures are put in place VFTOs can cause nonuniform voltage distribution and lightning surges disturbs the reliability of distribution systems because of damage of equipments and sensitive loads The fact that measurement of VFTO at high frequencies is quite difficult and demand skills and utmost care make computer simulation of switching operation attractive newline
