Abstract: | There are various industries present in India; some of them are textile, chemical, software, banking, food processing, agricultural, steel, machinery, pharmaceutical, etc. Each industry has its own importance in it. But among all the industry pharmaceutical industry of India has a great importance as this is one of the largest industries in the world. It ranks 4th in the world, pertaining to the volume of sales. This thesis is related to pharmaceutical industry in India. Also, as there are many foreign as well as Indian origin pharmaceuticals companies existed and having their business in India, researcher has taken pharmaceutical companies which are Indian in origin for his study. Every research has some location or geographic consideration, so from convenience point of view, researcher has taken Pune as the area for research. newlineIn every organization, employees plays vital role in the growth and overall development of the organization. The role of employees can be differs with respect to industries, but we cannot neglect their importance. In some industries especially service industries employees plays major role in delivering the services to the customers and in product industries the role of employees is limited to some extent. Pharmaceutical industry is an important part of every country. As this industry is totally related to health of human beings, it has its own importance than other industry. Sales, production, product management team (PMT), research and development (R and D), finance, quality assurance (QA), quality checks (QC), Human Resource, etc. are some important departments of any pharma companies. Among all the departments, employee turnover of sales department is very high when compared to other departments. In pharmaceutical industry the products are drugs and medicines, customers are Medical practitioners and consumers are patients.
