Abstract: Single and two cylinder engines are pulse of Indian rural and urban transportation system. These newlineengines are extensively used for numerous applications such as power generation, three wheelers, newlineand agricultural machines and in small house-hold applications in India and other Asian countries. newlineAlso single cylinder engine is major power source for agricultural work in small house hold in newlineSouth East Asia for many years (Jaiklanburana et al., 2005). Use of high end technologies will newlinemake these engines to much complex and expensive. Therefore simple mechanically controlled newlinecomponents are used for these engines which make them modest in operation and maintenance. newlineThis also improves the product cost and affordability. In order to meet the forthcoming stringent newlineemission norms, there is a need for further development of these engines. One of the methods newlinesuggested for enhancing the performance and reducing the pollutants is to boosting of these newlineengines. Turbocharging is one of well matured and industry accepted method of boosting of diesel newlineengines. However, turbocharging of single cylinder engine not possible due to the inherent newlinecharacteristic of too long gap between two power/exhaust strokes and high pulsation with low newlinekinetic energy of exhaust flow. Similarly, two cylinder diesel engine turbocharging is extremely newlinedifficult along with remarkably complex product design thus making the product very expensive. newlineIn this research work, an attempt is made to address the above technological problems of single newlineand two cylinder diesel engines. Turbocharging and Supercharging is applicable to Two Cylinder newlineEngine and newline
