Urban growth refers to the extent of urbanization, which is a global phenomenon mainly driven by population growth, large scale migration, proximity to resources and basic amenities. In the emerging scenario it is essential to have updated information on urban growth patterns and its impact on the living environment. This research shows how the expansion caused a significant impact on land use in the study area and its newlineneighboring provinces. It aims to understand the relationship between urban growth and physical factors to determine suitable sites for future urban expansion using knowledge base hierarchy model, such as Analytic newlineHierarchy Process (AHP) with spatial modeling as supporting tool. The AHP concept on design and evaluation of land use patterns are attempted with weightages, rankings and factor analysis as a means of representation, newlinepositioning and relational impact on urban planning.en_US
