ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS ENTITLED STUDIES ON newlinePREPARATION OF 2-ACETYLBENZIMIDAZOLES AND SYNTHESIS OF THIONES, PYRAZOLES AND ISOXAZOLE DERIVATIVES OF BENZIMIDAZOLE CHALCONES newlineThe study of the chemistry of benzimidazoles and its derivatives has been found to be continuous and to be one of the most active and fascinating areas of heterocyclic chemistry. Benzimidazole and its newlinederivatives posses a wide range of biological activities such as antihistaminic, analgesic, antihypertensive and antiemetic etc. Notable among these are Astemizole, Bezitramide, Candesartan, Domperidone, Emedastine, Irtemazole, Lansoprazole etc. In many of newlinethese, benzimidazole ring system is the core moiety.
