Object-Oriented (00) technology has emerged as the most popular software engineering practice as it offers the advantages of increased productivity and easy maintainability. To get a good quality end product using any technology requires the need to follow a well-defined methodology at each phase of software development life cycle. In this thesis few techniques have been proposed to achieve good quality 00 software. The techniques are suitable at various phases of software development. Successful completion of any project requires proper planning. Estimations are pre- requisite for software planning. A number of models are available in literature to estimate 00 software. But the superiority of one model over other models is not clearly visible. We compare and review a number of alternative estimation models for 00 software in order to facilitate managers the selection of estimation approaches that are suitable to their organization. An internal (developed within user organization) estimation model has been developed. We empirically evaluate and investigate the suite of object oriented design metrics by applying them on standard projects. Statistical analysis on metric values is also done to understand the relationship between different measures.
