Abstract: | DEMs have become an essential input products for orthorectification in operational data processing chain, and also found to be very useful data source in recent years for several applications in remote sensing. For many applications, characteristics newlineof DEMs and knowledge on their accuracy have become a prerequisite. NRSC acquires, processes and archives remote sensing data newlineof several satellites. Using the stereo images, NRSC has built Carto DEM data archives for Indian region. ISRO has planned to launch in the coming years several satellites with SAR sensors onboard, thus newlineproviding enough opportunity in future to acquire, process and build SAR DEM data archives. In this backdrop, it is felt necessary to evolve suitable methodology to produce accurate wide area InSAR DEMs, to analyze the advanced characterization schemes, to devise a comprehesive newlinenovel framework for quantification of errors, to simulate error fields and presentation ways of the acuracy of InSAR DEMs. Surveyed newlineliterature also indicated that there is an ample scope for examination on issues central to large area InSAR DEMs. This thesis describes the research carried out on methodology for generation of large area newlineInSAR DEMs using repeat pass interferometry with ERS SAR tandem SLC data pairs, characterization of produced DEMs, bringing out a comprehensive error quantification frame work for evaluation by means of statistical, spatial, graphical measures and error field newlinesimulations. |
