Abstract: India is a nation known for its rich and vibrant culture and heritage. Traditional Indian handloom cotton newlineand silk fabrics were famous for their exquisite beauty and fineness from the time immemorial. An increasing newlineconcern for the environment has led to worldwide consumer awareness of environmentally friendly procedures newlineand products, including textile products without the need for bleaching, dyeing and other finishing procedures newline. In recent years Natural Colour Cottons and wild silks are receiving increasing importance in view of their ecofriendly newlinecharacter. The use of enzymes for scouring and desizing of the cellulosic fabrics is done with the help newlineof enzymes and the process is called bio-polishing or bio-finishing. Natural colour cotton DDCC-I , newlineconventional cotton, eri silk and mulberry silk were selected, yarns and union fabrics were made and the fabrics newlinewere given enzyme and softener treatment. The fashion garments were designed, developed and assessed. The newlineresults indicated that the newly made fabrics were in par with the conventional cotton, inclusion of silk newlineenhanced the properties of the fabric .The new designs in garments were well accepted newlinei) Major objectives : newlinei) To identify and select, through a pilot study, commercially viable fibres of Natural newlineColour Cotton and wild silk that can be fabricated into union fabrics. newlineii) To ascertain the properties of developed Natural Colour Cotton and Eri silk yarn and newlinefabrics. newlineiii) To evaluate the performance characteristics and the colour value of the enzyme newlinetreated union fabrics newlineiv) To design, develop and assess a line of fashion garments from the developed fabrics newlineii)Methodology : The research was carried out in five phases. newline3.1PHASE- I newline3.1.1. Conduct of survey newline3.1.1.1 Selection of area and sample newline3.1.1.2 Selection of the tool for data collection newline3.1.1.3 Collection and consolidation of data newline3.1.1.4 Findings of the consumer survey newline3.1.2 Selection and procurement of fibres
