The textile industry in one of most promising industry in the world. The Environment issues have newlineled to the need of Eco friendly manufacturing process and new innovation of fabrics. The minor newlinenatural fiber like pineapple, banana, sisal are slowly gaining aesthetic importance and is in par newlinewith cotton and silk. India being the largest banana producing country has the availability of newlinewaste banana bio mass pseudo stem in abundant, therefore, the waste pseudo stem can be newlineconverted into value added fabric. The cellulosic properties of banana fiber is compatible with newlinecotton and can be partially replaced for cotton. Three varieties of banana pseudo stem fiber which newlinebelongs to the musa acumanata family namely Redbanana, Nendran, Robusta where chosen for newlinethe mixture fabric. The hand extracted fibers were selected as they exhibited good textile qualities newlinethan the mechanical extracted fibre. Cotton yarn was used in the warp direction and the three newlinevarieties of the banana yarn fiber were used in the weft direction individually by hand weaving. newlineThe three types of mixture fabric were pretreated with enzymes and dyed with Butea monosperma newlineflower. The physical mechanical and comfort properties were analysed before and after enzyme newlinetreatment. The mixture fabrics showed good performance in their physical, mechanical and newlinecomfort properties after the enzyme treatment. The mixture fabric can be recommended for the newlinedevelopment of technical textiles and apparels. newlinei) Major objectives : newline To identify the potential varieties of Banana fiber to construct a mixture fabric with cotton. newline To explore the process involved in the extraction of the fiber from the banana pseudo newlinestem. newline To creating fabrics with three varieties of banana pseudo-stem using handloom weaving. newline To explore eco-friendly pre-treatment, using enzymes. newline To identify a natural dye for dyeing the mixture fabrics. newline To investigate the effect of gauge length of the banana fibers. newline To study the moisture management of a series of cotton/banana mixture fabrics.
