Abstract: This thesis is composed of five chapters and a bibliography. The initial part of the thesis mainly contains the background of the investigation, need and importance of the present study and a detailed literature review on financial literacy, financial decision making behaviour, risk attitudes and investment intentions. Towards the later part of the thesis, an in depth research analysis to assess the level of financial literacy, risk attitudes and investment intentions of youth along with the impact of financial knowledge on the intentions to invest is presented. newlineChapter 1 attempts to explain the meaning of the financial literacy besides describing the background of the research and need, this chapter also explains the theoretical framework for the present study. Also a detailed account of the significance of financial literacy is accentuated fundamentally by referring to the reports and findings of reports and surveys conducted throughout the world by renowned institutional bodies like Organization for newlineEconomic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Global Financial Literacy Excellence Centre (GFLEC), Jumpstart Coalition of Financial Literacy, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Securities and Exchange Board of India. Additionally, the objectives along with the hypotheses set for the present study are also delineated in this chapter besides the introduction of the main constructs of the study. Towards the concluding part, the research gap identified as well as the rationale of the study is delineated along with the objectives, research questions and hypotheses of the study. newlineAn in depth summary of the review of extant literature on the constructs of the study,financial literacy, perceived risk attitudes and investment intentions and various studies who have attempted to establish the link between the understudy constructs is reported in chapter 2 of the thesis.
