Abstract: | The aim of the present study was to scientifically validate and authenticate Dyerophytum indicum using modern analytical tools and techniques, and co-comparison of D.indicum was done with Plumbago zeylanica L, Various markers were also generated in the present work, these marker will provide aid in future studies. newlineAs from ancient literature it is revealed that since ages Dyerophytum indicum was used as a substitute for Plumbago zeylanica L to cure various ailments. Plumbago zeylanica is commonly known as chitrak and used to cure various malfunctioning of body. As per an ethno-medicinal survey in Mt. Abu tribal people also mentioned that the garasia community is still using this ancient drugs Dyerophytum indicum as a substitute for Plumbago zeylanica to cure various ailments. newlineThe present thesis is divided into six chapters, Chapter 1 includes introduction of Dyerophytum indicum and Plumbago zeylanica along with present status of medicinal plants. Chapter 2 includes literature survey of medicinal plants along with test plants, Chapter 3 includes experimental procedures that have been followed in present study, Chapter 4 includes outcome of all experiments, Chapter 5 includes summary where Chapter 6 includes conclusion of present work. newlineExperimental procedures includes phytochemical evaluation for D.indicum and P.zeylanica, the outcome revealed presence of various metabolites including flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids and saponins. D.indicum and P. zeylanica were also exposed for loss on drying, total ash, acid insoluble ash and water soluble extractives. The parameter was completed as per API procedures. Then both the test plants were examined for antimicrobial potential and the outcomes revealed that P. zeylanica roots shows maximum inhibition zones as compared to D.indicum. Where as D.indicum stem showed more inhibition zone as compared to P. zeylanica. Then P. zeylanica and D.indicum were examined for thin layer chromatography and the chromatograms showed presence of stigmasterol and and#946; sitosterol. Rf value for D |
