Title: Qualitative Improvement through Academic Audit in the Affiliated Colleges of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi An Evaluative Study

Abstract: The Indian Higher Education is passing through a phase of change and renovation. newlineThere are many factors that affect the quality of Education in India. On the one hand newlinethere is an increase in demand of Higher Education; on the other hand the increasing newlinecost of Education is leading to the demand for quality in Education. In order to newlineimprove the quality of Higher Education, the Universities undertake many initiatives newlinein the form of the establishment of quality assurance cell, Academic Audit, newlineaccreditations and so on. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi newlineestablished the Academic Audit Cell in order to monitor and improve the quality of newlineHigher Education in its affiliated colleges. The main purpose of this study is to newlineevaluate the Academic Audit process being conducted by Guru Gobind Singh newlineIndraprastha University, Delhi. The main objective of conducting Academic Audit is newlineto maintain and improve the quality of the Institutions affiliated to Guru Gobind newlineSingh Indraprastha University, Delhi. The study, therefore attempts to determine the newlinequalitative changes that have been brought about in the affiliated B.Ed Institutes, as a newlineresult of Academic Audit. newlineIn view of the nature of the study, mixed method of research was followed i.e. newlinequalitative and quantitative research method was used. newlineThe documentary analysis of the criteria used for conducting Academic Audit in newlinevarious countries along with the relevant research material was undertaken by the newlineresearcher. The researcher undertook the critical analysis of the format (2012-13) used newlineby GGSIPU for conducting the Academic Audit. newlineThe sample of the study consisted of the Teacher Education Institutes affiliated to newlineGGSIPU and offering B.Ed course. 22 B.Ed colleges were chosen for the study. Out newlineof the 22 Institutes Teacher Educators of 20 colleges responded favorably and were newlinewilling to participate in the study. The sample comprised a senior and experienced newlinefaculty who was associated with the process of Academic Audit in his/ her respective newlinecollege.
