Abstract: The thesis entitled Synthesis and Biological Activity of Benzodiazepines, Dihydropyrimidinones, Quinoxalin-amines and newlineTheir Derivatives is classified in to seven chapters. The thesis title explains the objective, which gives the detailed study of synthesis, characterization and biological activity of nitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds such as Benzodiazepines, Dihydropyrimidinones, Quinoxalin-amines and their derivatives. Chapter-I presents an newlineintroduction to N-containing heterocyclic compounds and their pharmacological importance and literature survey on the present existing synthetic methods. Chapter-II describes experimental details newlineof synthesis, characterization and biological activity of N-containing heterocyclic compounds. Chapter-III deals with the room temperature synthesis of 1,5-benzodiazepines (BDPs) using silica gel supported sulfuric acid and cage type mesoporous aluminosilicate (AlKIT-5) catalysts, which constitute a novel biologically active chloro substituted compounds. Chapter-IV describes the study of synthesis and characterization of 3,4 dihydropyrimidin 2-ones (DHPMs) using newlineDichloro Dicyano Quinone (DDQ) and mesoporous aluminosilicate (AlKIT-5) catalyst with cage type pore structure. Here a new series of newlinebiologically active thio substituted DHPMs are described. Chapter-V deals with the synthesis and characterization of novel 3,4-Dihydroquinoxalin- 2-amine derivatives using p-toulene sulfonic acid (PTSA) and AlKIT-5 catalysts. Chapter-VI describes the anti-neuroinflammatory effect of BDPs, DHPMs and 3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2-amine derivatives. Chapter-VII deals with the conclusions of the present work.
