Abstract: | The concept of development is a historical legacy. In the course of the evolution of its meaning, it has assumed a definitive, if amorphous, economic connotation in the current usage of the word: improvement of the economic status of the society, widening of the individual s life opportunities, and betterment of the quality of life. newlineDevelopment is globally defined in terms of industrial and technological growth, the means which becomes the goal. Development is just another form of social change; it cannot be understood in isolation. The multidimensional nature of development interventions call for identification of not only potential economic impacts but also potential social and environmental impacts. newlineRESULTS and DISCUSSIONS newlineFor this study purpose 270 households from HAL displaced villages and 146 households from NALCO displaced villages were taken. The average family size of the studied households is 4.49. Overall sex ratio in the studied villages of both the industries accounts 975, which is very low than the Koraput districted s sex ratio (1032). newlineAmong the studied communities, percentage wise ST households are (62%) and the second concentrated caste group households are SCs (26%). The total literacy rate is 59%. Out of which male literacy is 58% and Female literacy is around 42%. newlineIn this study, those households are considered which have lost their land. People lost all type of lands i.e. home stead land, agricultural land, and both home stead and agriculture land whose title deed (patta) they have. Out of these ticket lands, 29% are home stead land, 23% are agriculture land and 48% are belongs to both type. newlineThere is difference of opinion among land displaced people, and industry and government authorities regarding the amount of land acquired for industries. newlineAccording to the President, HAL Displaced Association, Sunabeda (grievance letter submitted to the collector, Koraput; and to the chairman, HAL; dated: 11.09.2012), in the year 1963 Govt. newlineThere is nothing more traumatic than getting physically displaced. |
