dc.description.abstractWomen play triple role of a housewife, a career women and as a citizen. Due to labour force newlineparticipation her visibility in the economic sphere cannot go unrecognized. But the socio-cultural newlinenorms of our patriarchal society and their confinement at home rendered non-recognition to the tasks newlineperformed by them. With women constituting more than 50 percent of the population has been newlineaccounting for most of the unpaid activities. So the ESNA activities if monetized it will enhance newlineincome of the household.Using the Replacement Cost Method, ESNA activities such as cooking, newlinewashing clothes, washing vessels and cleaning house were monetized for both working women and newlinenon- working women in Mahe district. It also highlights the time management of women in terms of newlineSNA, ESNA and NSNA activities. newlineKey words: unpaid work , SNA activities, ESNA activities NSNA activities. newlinei) Major objectives : newline1. H0: Work status of women is independent of social, economic and demographic factors newlineHa: Work status of women is dependent of social, economic and demographic factors HO: Time management of working and non working women are the same newlineHa: Time management of working and non working women differ. newlineiii) Methodology : newlineMulti-stage sampling procedure was adopted in selection of the sample respondents newlinefrom Mahe district, selecting 250 families of Working Women and 250 Non-Working Women date newlinewere collected during Jan-April 14 through face to face interview method.Suitable statistical tools newlinesuch as, Chi-square test, factor analysis, KMO and Bartletts test of sphericity, rating scale, newlinediscriminant analysis, Garrets score, percentages, averages and graphs were used. SPSS 16 version newlinewas used in analyzing data.
