Abstract: Reliability and acceptance sampling has emerged as a separate field of study due to its wide newlinevariety of applications in a life test analysis. Due to such significant applications this thesis is devoted newlineto the study of truncated life test through acceptance sampling procedures. Chapter 1 introduces the newlinebasic concepts of statistical quality control, acceptance sampling, reliability, lifetime distributions and newlinethe review of sampling plans. Chapter 2 discusses the special purpose double sampling plan of type newlineDSP (0,1) for truncated life test when the lifetime of the items follows different lifetime distributions. newlineThe minimum sample sizes are determined at the worst case for the predefined acceptance number. newlineThe probability of acceptance is calculated for different consumer s confidence levels. The results are newlineanalysed with the help of tables and examples. Chapter 3 focuses on the chain sampling plan for a newlinetruncated life test, when the lifetime of the items follows different lifetime distributions. Chapter 4 newlinestarts the study of a modified chain sampling plan based on the truncated life test, when the lifetime newlineof the items follows different lifetime distributions. In Chapters 3 and 4, the minimum sample size newlinerequired is determined when the previous lots number i, consumer s risk and the time termination newlineratios are specified. The operating characteristic values for various quality levels are obtained. The newlineresults are presented in tables and illustrated with examples. Chapter 5 discusses the hybrid group newlineacceptance sampling plan using weighted binomial for truncated life test, assuming that the lifetime newlineof the items follows different lifetime distributions. Chapter 6 relates to the designing of a two stage newlinehybrid group acceptance sampling plan based on the truncated life test, when the lifetime of the items newlinefollows different lifetime distributions. In Chapters 3 and 4, the minimum number of testers r is newlinedetermined when the acceptance number, consumer s risk, time termination ratio and the group size newlineare specified.
