Abstract: In a global view, static hosts are a large population group, which depend on Internet. newlineHowever, TCPIIP architecture is designed under the assumption that the end hosts are newlineconnected to the Internet statically and that changes in the topology are caused by faults newlineor the addition of new equipment. It is also assumed that these changes are infrequent. newlineA fundamental concept of the Internet architecture is that each host has a unique network newlineaddress (IP address) and network addresses form a hierarchy. The IP address identifies newlinethe host and it also reflects the point of attachment of the host. The routing mechanism newlineis based on the hierarchical structure and uses the IP address as the qjrective to deliver an newlineIP data packet. In the current TCP/IP suite, if a host moves from one network to another newlinenetwork, its IP address must change. However, many applications above TCP/IP use the newlineIP address as the identifier. The IP address can not be changed in this reference. The newlineInternet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has standardized Mobile IP as a promising newlinesolution to solve the dilemma by applying two IP addresses to each mobile host. One IP newlineaddress serves as the identifier, called home address. The other IP ~ddress serves as the newlinedirective of the point of attachment, which is used by the routing system to deliver data. newlineThere is an evolutionary trend in mobile communication systems towards the next newlinegeneration (4G) networks. The future 4G networks will be heterogeneous network with newlinea large number of different access networks. For instance, the network services are newlineprovided by the cellular radio systems for outdoor environments and by the wireless newlinelocal area network (LAN) or wireless personal area network (PAN) systems for indoor newlineones. A mobile node (MN) equipped with a software-based terminal can connect to the newlineInternet via the base station quotof the access network nearby. One promising feature of 4G newlinenetworks is to provide an all Internet protocol (IP) architecture and the connectivity to newlineanywhere at anytime.
