Abstract: Organotin(W) compounds have attracted considerable attention owing to the newlineenormous variety of discrete or polymeric structural topologies and potential newlinetherapeutic activities. These compounds are widely used in several biomedical and newlinecommercial applications like agricultural biocides, disinfectants, antitumor agents, newlinewood preservatives, antioxidants, stabilizers for polyvinylchloride (PVC), marine newlineantifouling coating, flame retardants, smoke suppressants and homogenous catalysts. newlineAmong various organotin compounds with different anionic species, organotin(IV) newlinecarboxylates are highly important as they have various interesting structural features and biological applications. Thus the chemistry of the organotin compounds shows a great significance in the world. The emergence of analytical techniques viz. newlinemultinuclear spectroscopy (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 119Sn-NMR), thermogravimetric newline(TG) analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) provided useful newlineinformation about the structure and stabilities of the compounds. newlineThe primary objective of this study was focused on the synthesis of novel newlineorganotin(IV) compounds and to explore their thermal properties and biological newlineusage. The present thesis deals with the synthesis of organotin(IV) compounds from newlineacid anhydrides, amino acids and indole acids. The work included their newlinecharacterization by using elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and 119Sn-NMR spectroscopy. The thermal stability and antibacterial activity were also studied. newlineA critical review of research in the realm of organotin(IV) compounds has been provided in Chapter I....
