Abstract

The research work revolves around studying the Contours of Contemporary Women s Poetry. Women throughout the world are contributing massively to the Modern Literature. Indian Women s Writing has also evolved strongly. Research work aims to study the diverse concerns catered by Indian Women Poets in the light of Contemporary Women s Literature. The poets selected for the study are Anamika, Sujata Bhatt and Imtiaz Dharker. All the three poets are unique yet similar, as they focus on problems associated with women, children and the destitute. They have their own way of dealing with the social concerns. At times they are rebellious, at times sarcastic and at some places they openly state the pain associated with the oppressed people in society. Woman undoubtedly remain their prime focus as in Indian cultural setting a lot more change is required in dealing with gender equality. newlineStudying the works of above mentioned poets has helped to develop an understanding regarding the changing scenario of contemporary women s literature. The language, themes, treatment of the intense issues and the reception of women s writing have been the major areas of focus of the research.
