The ease of processing and performance of cured products have made epoxy matrix resins as material of choice in advanced fibre reinforced composites. However, the cured resins are brittle in nature due to high cross-link density. An increase in molecular size of curing agent may lead to a reduction in cross-link density. Another [imitation of the epoxy resins is their relative poor thermal stability and flame resistance. In recent years, attention was focussed on the development of novel curators containing imide groups for epoxy resins with a view to improve the performance at elevated temperature. The present thesis deals with synthesis and characterization of aromatic imide-amines and its evaluation as curing agents for epoxy resin. The aim of the present work was to investigate systematically the effect of structure of aromatic imide-amines on the curing and thermal behaviour of epoxy resins. newline
