Abstract: Most of the civilized society in the world has adopted the democratic culture and so as India where people are sovereign and have the right to know every act and activities of the government to fight against corruption and partisan action. It is in this respect that RTI has been brought India and is considered a significant step in the process of bringing transparency. The present research work has been taken up with the objective to analyse the conceptual framework of Right to Information and study the role of Right to Information in improving governance and analyse the constraint and the problems associated with the provisions of Right to Information in governance. The present study is a unique combination of doctrinal as well as non- doctrinal field work. In a survey of eminent scholars, academicians and Hon ble judges of the higher judiciary including the common people of NCR and Dehradun region, it was found that the provisions of international level are more or less followed in Indian Act but found some Grey areas both in the Statutes and the execution at national level. On the basis of the primary data researcher has tried to test using descriptive statistics. Certain suggestions like Spreading Public Awareness, Enforcing Proactive Disclosures, Uniformity among State Governments, Information Seekers and Providers be prevented from being Harassed, Capacity Building and Training Sufficient Budgetary Stipulation Sufficient Manpower and Improving Management of Records etc were given to improve the RTI, researcher has also proposes a model amendments Act to settled down the discrepancy in the present RTI system up to a certain extent. newline
