Abstract: | This is a critical time for companies to bring technology and business together as never before. An accelerating competition demands businesses change at a pace that was inconceivable a decade ago. Business must respond with ever faster continuous improvement of existing operations and the constant introduction of new products. Only companies that master the required rhythm of change will persevere and prosper. Global collaboration and emerging corporate cultures are creating a new type of innovative enterprise: one based on services. This thesis deals with Service Oriented Framework for integration of legacy system in Heterogeneous Environment. The focus is on how to use the framework for automatic integration of legacy system using web service, i.e., use web service to implement Service Oriented Architecture framework for legacy system. This research work introduces a framework which has technological innovation designed to help legacy system modernization. This research provides a framework for modernizing legacy system suitable for existing business work flow. This framework is appropriate for application development in heterogeneous environment especially expanding the legacy system to operate in distributed computing environment. The Proposed framework extracts the reusable legacy assets from the underlying legacy system and convert the assets to WSDL which has to be exposed as web service as per the new target architecture. In this context, methods and processes are needed to decompose existing systems into notable sets of components, each of which potentially implements an object. The approach is to first study an existing agile methodology of legacy system and identifies gaps in the methodology. The gaps are identified using reverse engineering process. In this activity, the input artifact is the legacy code while the output consists of set of legacy elements. The extraction of legacy elements from code is influenced by the architectural recover activity. |
