A study of values among school teachers at secondary level in relation to their gender local and marital status

Abstract

This study is deals about the role of value among the teachers working in secondary education in respect to their age, marital status and gender. Fault in the modern education system which has lost sight of the need for the totality of educational experiences that lead to the balanced development of personality. More importance is now being given to the cognitive domain than to the non-cognitive domain of education. A value is a state of human mind a mental disposition, an attitude or an emotionalized state of mind towards some idea, thing or tradition carrying positive and negative charges within itself. Its formation involves a deeper layer of personality. It is always a result of one s own experiences. Values are thus fundamentally social in origin as well as in their manifestation. Values are held as relevant and utilitarian only in their social context. It is passing through a situation of turmoil and crisis as was never seen before. Values such as violence, corruption, fundamentalism, self-centered interests and desire for easy success without working. A man is known by his values. Values may be operationally conceived as those guiding principles of life which are conductive to one s physical and mental health as well as to social welfare and adjustment and which are tune with one s culture. Values play the most important role in the life of every individual. They cannot be seen in the full play whenever reasons are called. A value is a principle of choice. newline
