Abstract: | Silver nanoparticles S AgNP were synthesized successfully using aqueous extract of unripe dried fruits of Piper nigrum L in a facile and cost effective manner S AgNPs were found to be spherical in shape with average size of 26 point 4 plus 2 point 53 nm and were stable in solution with zeta potential of minus 30 point 4 plus 3 point 59 mV The polysaccharides and alkaloids of Piper nigrum helped in reducing and stabilizing the silver nanoparticles S AgNPs exhibited significant anti oxidant properties in a dose dependant manner as estimated in the in vitro assays such as DPPH NOS and total antioxidant capacity In the anti inflammatory in vitro assay S minus AgNPs significantly reduced the expression of TNF IL 1I L 1and I L 6 levels in PBMC cells induced with LPS In the carrageenan model S minus AgNPs significantly reduced paw edema S minus AgNPs produced 86 point 43 percent and 81 point 98 percent inhibition of paw edema at the end of 5 hrs In the adjuvant arthritis model S minus AgNPs showed significant anti arthritic effect with reduction in paw edema gait score and amelioration of the ankle joint pathology S AgNPs significantly reduced expression of TNF and NF kand#946; p65 in the popliteal lymph nodes S AgNPs at lower dose of 25mg kg was able to reverse the alterations in biochemical parameters and liver changes induced by adjuvant arthritis without producing any toxicity newline |
