dc.description.abstractnewline Since the communication world is wireless in nature, several electronics and communication equipments, demands high performance transmitting and receiving devices as antenna. Here main interest on the conformal microstrip patch antenna using on board system specially for military application aircrafts, media Vans, ships and satellites for curved structure. Conformal MSA have been extensively studied and researched in open literature with renewed interest. In spite of the availability of several models for different surfaces, new approach has emerged to meet the growing demands of conformal antenna array for cylindrical surface. Numerous EM simulations are performed in order to produce a comparative analysis for arbitrary conformal antennas with its planar counterparts. newlineThe work embodied in this thesis is based on the critical study of MSA, conformal theory, effect of curvature and conformal antenna array characteristics for cylindrical surface. This work divided in two categories one is development of MSA and development of conformal antenna array. The worthiness of integrating this conformal antenna on aircraft fuselages are investigated by simulating it for the aircraft footprint. newlineTwo different 1x4 printed conformal array on a thin substrate are proposed and analyzed for cylindrical surface for X band operation with directivity of 10dBi. One structure with guard line in patch and quarter wave center slotting, whereas second structure with guard line in patch and meandered line in feeding network. Simulation results for planar and conformal structure are plotted for discussion and evaluation. All the theoretical prospects in the study are validated through ADS and CST MW simulation results. newlineThe thesis besides enhancing the knowledge by contributing conformal theory, structures and effect of curvature on radiation pattern of antenna array and provides new directions for further research on the subject. newline newline
