Abstract: | newline Current commerce with its elevated extent of specialty and interdependence of operations requires regular and prompt attendance of all workers. In process industry, almost every step involved in the production process is dependent on one another. In such a situation and requirements, absence of the workers in any department may result in severe dislodgment of production. As we are all aware that human resources are the most important resource and are the major responsible factors for effective or ineffective production. In such a condition absence of workers can cause bundle of problems to the company including, even closure of production as a worse outcome. newline newline However, employees may also take leave when they are capable to attend work. This may result out of low motivation levels and dissatisfaction with ones work, unsuitable work environment, resulting in poor interpersonal relationships and further causing many related problems that can collectively decrease production. Unscheduled leaves hurt a company the most. Absenteeism presents a huge cost to the company and thus should be monitored closely. newline It is the liability of the Human Resource Department to communicate the attendance policy clearly to the employees. At the same time, it has to develop HR policies to raise the motivation levels of employees and decrease absenteeism due to culpable reasons. The company should take steps to engage the employees so that they enjoy their work and are absent only for genuine reasons only. newline Manpower, just like in all other industries; is a vital driving force for the capital goods industry. Not new to discuss we all know that capital goods sector is the heart of any other manufacturing industry and has a huge contribution in the economy, requires serious attention and sincerity to complete the work on time. Though very big companies do not face much challenge regarding absenteeism but they are limited in number. |
