Abstract: In the field of reliability, several one and two units hardware/software systems have been newlineanalysed by the researchers under various different conditions and situations. A few newlineresearchers have also investigated some systems on the basis of collected real data. In newlinefact, the analyses of communication system devices with respect to reliability, newlineperformance and cost-benefit on the basis of real data have not been reported. The newlinepresent thesis is an attempt in the direction. newlineCommunication devices are primarily an assembly of electronic components having newlinehardware/ software parts capable of transmitting analog or digital signals through newlinecommunication wire or wireless. Many such devices are being used in day to day life in newlinevarious different communication systems. For in-depth study of communication devices newlineand to investigate their failure-free and cost effective performance, a leading newlinemanufacturer of communication devices, a unit of Government of India enterprises newline Bharat Electronic Limited located at Panchkula (Haryana) was visited. As it was noted newlinethat the performance and cost of a communication device is directly proportional to the newlinequality and costs of its constituents PCBs therefore the reliability and economic analyses newlineof communication devices in a way can be carried out with the help of the analyses of newlinetheir constituents PCBs and manufacturing process/system involved therein. In the newlineliterature of reliability, the analyses of PCBs used in communication devices and their newlinemanufacturing process in terms of reliability and cost using real data taking into account newlinepractical aspects/ situations of the process, has not been reported. newlineTo bridge this gap, in the present thesis reliability and economic analysis of PCBs used in newlinecommunication devices and their manufacturing system is carried out on the basis of newlinecollected real data considering various different practical aspects/ situations.The newlinestochastic models for the system are developed and analysed on the basis of the newlineinformation gathered/ data collected from a plant/compa
