Abstract: Indian subcontinent is one of the most vulnerable regions of the world to natural disasters, newlinedue to its unique geophysical location, geo climate conditions and unpredictable monsoons. newlineRegional aspirations, corruption, bad governance and political rivalries are threatening the newlinecore values on which our country takes pride. In addition, physical, social, economic and newlinepolitical vulnerabilities, geophysical positioning, lack of awareness about disasters, newlineinadequate attention to structural mitigation measures, population growth, urbanization and newlineenvironmental degradation make the situation still worse. As regards the vulnerability of the newlineNCT of Delhi, it is a multi-hazard state. It falls in seismic zone IV for earthquakes, is flood newlineprone and vulnerable to urban fires, extreme heat and cold waves. Being the political capital newlineand emerging economic hub, it is also a likely target for terrorist related disasters. newline
