Abstract: | The people use resources (energy) and material from the natural environment and newlinedeposit wastes back into the natural environment. Materials and energy that people draw from the natural environment are known as source, and environmental reservoirs that receive the products of human society are known as sink. The environmental (degradation) problem arises from resource depletion and pollution of the sink. According to Malthus, the power of population is greater than the power in the earth to produce subsistence for man. The man has to interfere in the natural cosystem to provide subsistence to the excessive population. Excessive utilization or consumption of the newlinesources is the only way left out to produce the subsistence, called here as development. newlineAgricultural development, industrial development, urban development, nuclear power newlinegeneration have broadly categorized as an important section of the development. In the newlineprocess of the development, a lot of resources have been used, and the growing population newlineinsists continuation of the development creates environmental degradation. The newlineenvironmental degradation affects adversely on the health. The Environmental Science is newlinethe subject, exists to maintain the balance of the development and welfare of living newlineorganism together to introduce sustainable development in the society. newlineThe development and scientific research have a close association. The newlinedevelopment creates social, economic, science and technological or even theoretical newlineproblems. The scientific research is the only accepted method in the world to solve or to newlineavoid the problem, going to be created in future. The evaluation, categorization, ranking newlineand the comparison are the techniques useful to measure the scientific research in a newlineparticular subject. In other words, measuring the science has termed as a scientometric study. It is a fact that the US has recognised as a leading nation due to the unbeatable contribution of scientific research and backed by the resources (George D. Palmer). |
