In recent years the demand for Functionally Gradient Materials newlineFGM has been increasing for a number of engineering applications due to newlinetheir useful properties The FGM alloys are the new kind of composite newlinematerials having a progressive change in composition and microstructure newlineacross the cross section This microstructure produces a wide variation in newlinetheir properties The FGM alloys are used for applications where the newlineinteresting properties like wear resistance strength and toughness are of newlineimportance Presently the components of multilayered alloys consisting of newlinewear resistant material in the outer and tough material in the core with newlinegradient in properties can be produced by Powder Metallurgy routes and newlinecentrifugal processes However these processes are having some limitations newlinewith respect to the processing capabilities and the geometrical complexity newline newline
