Abstract: The contribution made in this work, is helpful to manufacturing industries newlinefor studying the performance of any industrial process. The design of a newlinemanufacturing process, its maintenance scheduling and satisfactory performance newlineplay a vital role in the manufacture of a reliable product. A systematic scheme newlinebased on the theory of reliability engineering and Markov model has been used newlinefor analyzing the performance in industry and developing a mathematical model. newlineThis work incorporates different analytical approaches including, Local Balance newlineEquation, Queuing Theory, Difference Differential Equation and Fuzzy Logic newlineTechnique. An optimal maintenance scheduling model has been developed by newlinegiving constraints on the availability of scheduling of maintenance, cost analysis newlineand decision support system, to find the optimal maintenance rates of industrial newlinemanufacturing machines whenever these undergo the preventive and corrective newlinemaintenance action. newlineThe developed mathematical model has been further optimized by an newlineadvanced optimization technique i.e. genetic algorithm (GA). The basic aim of the newlinepresent research work is to further develop and improve upon the available newlinemodels (under steady state conditions), the performance analysis and newlineoptimization of some operating systems of a paper plant. newlineScheduling, assigning a specific time for completing a specific job are, newlinealso discussed. The main objective of scheduling is to arrive at a position within a newlineminimum processing time. In short, the thesis discusses the application of newlinereliability analysis and cost analysis to support and assist decision making newlineprocess in operation and maintenance activities in real life. newline
