Abstract: Out of all the compounds tested, compound nos. 3h (2-(3-nitro-phenyl)-1,3-bis(1- newlinenaphthylmethyl)-imidazolidine) and 3n (2-(2-chloro-phenyl)-1,3-bis(1-naphthylmethyl)- newlineimidazolidine) showed anti-inflammatory activity (53.43 and 53.02%) comparable with indomethacin (61.45%). These two compounds also exhibited much reduced ulcerogenic activity as compared to standard drug. These compounds showed excellent analgesic action newlinealso when compared with aspirin. newlineIt was encouraging to observe that these compounds did not show any toxic symptoms or mortality given at dose of 1000 mg/kg indicating its wide margin of safety. newlineAll the fourteen compounds were also tested for antimicrobial activity, Compound 3f (2-(4- newlinechloro-phenyl)-1,3-bis(1-naphthylmethyl)-imidazolidine) showed moderate antibacterial and antifungal results. Compound 3f exhibited highest antifungal activity against fungal strain A. newlineniger (70.30%) compared to standard drug fluconazole. newline
