Abstract: Electrospinning process is a versatile process which uses an electrostatic force to process many kinds of materials like polymers, composite, ceramic materials, etc. Electrospinning of the composite sol derived from the sol-gel process yields one dimensional nanocomposite fibers. Poly (Vinyl Alcohol) / zinc acetate / copper acetate nanofibers were synthesized by electrospinning the sol obtained in the sol-gel process. The effect of applied voltage on the morphology of the fibers was studied. Nonlinear optical properties were studied by Kurtz-Perry powder technique and Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) efficiency was measured to be 11.1 times than that of KDP PVA / barium acetate / manganese acetate sol was electrospun to obtain composite nanofibers. These nanofibers were calcined at 1023 K for 5h and BaO / MnO composite nanofibers were obtained. Morphology of these nanofibers were studied by varying the size of the needle opening. Composite fibers of PVA / zinc acetate / barium acetate were obtained by electrospinning the sol obtained in the sol-gel process. The effect on morphology of these fibers was studied with respect to working distance. From the dielectric studies, it was found that the material exhibits ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transition at 323 K. From the SHG test, Second Harmonic Generation efficiency of this material was found to be 0.55 times than that of KDP. Second harmonic generation efficiency of ZnO/Ca0.5O and Zn0.5O/CaO nanocomposites were found to be 1.63 and 2.94 times than that of KDP. The A.C.conductivity of ZnO/Ca0.5O, Zn0.5O/CaO and ZnO/CaO nanocomposite materials were investigated. Among all the three composite materials, Zn0.5O/CaO has the highest conductivity, ZnO/CaO has moderate conductivity and ZnO/Ca0.5O has the least conductivity at 308 K. All these nanofibers exhibited interesting properties and could be used as potential candidates in various engineering applications. newline newline newline
