Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineWhite rot fungi produce several types of extracellular ligninolytic enzymes that are involved in newlinethe degradation of lignin content in a plant cell wall. The aim of the present study was to newlineoptimize and compare the growth requirements of three wild white-rot fungi and estimation of newlinetheir extracellular ligninolytic enzymes. Three wild mycelia culture of (WRF) Pleurotus newlineostreatus, Trametes versicolor and Schizophyllum commune cultures were procured from newlineMycology laboratory, Shoolini University, Solan. The optimum growth of P. ostreatus was newlinefound at temperature 20°C (pH±6), T. versicolor is showed optimum growth at temperature 30°C newline(pH±6). Optimum pH for S. commune was found at pH±4 and optimum temperature was at newline20°C. All the three species require high carbon (20:1) and low nitrogen concentration for their newlineoptimum growth. Screening was done by spot test for Laccase and MnP. Laccase spot test newlineshowed green coloration thus resulted in laccase production. T. versicolor showed dark green newlinecolouration in comparison to the other P. ostreatus and S. commune. In quantitative estimation of newlineextracellular ligninolytic enzymes T. versicolor showed highest production of Laccase and Aryl newlinealcohol oxidase however MnP was highest in S. commune and the production of LiP was newlinemaximum in Pleurotus ostreatus. In comparison to all selected cultures Trametes versicolor newlineshowed highest enzymes production. newline
