dc.description.abstractCoal is widely used in the generation of electricity Due to its low newlinecost and abundance it exhibits many industrial applications especially in newlinedeveloping countries As a result the environment is exposed to coal fly ash newlineparticulate matter CFAPM which is a major health concern in humans and newlinealso harmful to ecosystem Therefore we have collected and characterized newlineCFAPM and investigated its in vitro and in vivo toxicity newlineThe CFAPM was collected using the respirable dust sampler and newlinecharacterized using scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive newlineXray analysis SEM EDAX atomic force microscopy AFM particle newlinesize analyzer PSA and transmission electron microscope TEM The newlineparticles were found to be spherical with 9 to 50 nm in diameter hence newlinenamed as coal fly ash nanoparticles CFANPs in our study The EDAX newlinespectrum showed the elemental constituents of CFANPs revealing the newlinepresence of heavy metals associated newline newline
