Wireless networks deliver a lower bandwidth than wired networks; the mobility of hosts which causes topological changes of the underlying network also increases the network information. From various studies, it is learnt that issues like the bit error rate, route recomputation, network partitions, multipath routing, latency, and window translation rate, have to be resolved, when the TCP is used in wireless networks. The main focus of this thesis is to explore, the performance improvement of a wireless mobile TCP when multi agents REusable Task-based System of Intelligent Networked Agents (RETSINA) and Unreal Tournament Semi-Automated Force (UTSAF) are implemented along with the TCP. The TCP is prepared to work in a Multi Agent System with reasonably low delays and with low link error rates. In this thesis, we explored the simulation based evaluations for an agent based approach to wireless TCP in mobile networks. One of the primary goals of this work is to analyze the TCP, in order to characterize its performance under a wide range of mobile realistic scenarios, including different mobility conditions. The results show that the efficiency of the transport strategy goes up and down depending on the number of sources, number of receivers and status of the network. For small areas, wireless TCP shows a good packet delivery ratio. The thesis then presents a detailed study of the effects of varying the connection start up values, Radio Network Controller (RNC) queue length, response times, and transmission rate, to varying the number of nodes on the performance of the agent based transport protocols. The thesis quantity the performance differences of RETSINA based TCP and UTSAF based TCP in an end-to-end delivery strategy in mobile networks. Our simulation results show that the RETSINA based wireless TCP offers significantly better performance to data flows than the UTSAF based transport protocol. The average reliability in terms of the packet delivery ratio given by the RETSINA based TCP is higher in our experiments.en_US
