Abstract: Aryloxypropanolamines exhibit and#946;-adrenergic receptor blocking activity and hence are used clinically in various cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and cardiac arrhythmias. Some of the and#946;-blockers readily access the brain because of their lipophilicity thereby influencing some CNS functions. Propranolol is used for the treatment of anxiety syndromes, prophylaxis of migraine, schizophrenia and alcohol withdrawal syndrome and tremors
