Abstract: The purpose of the study was to find out the effects of traditional resistance training and complex training on selected performance parameters of men kabaddi players. To achieve this purpose of the study, forty five men kabaddi players from affiliated colleges of Alagappa University, Karaikudi, were selected as subjects at random. Their age ranged between eighteen to twenty eight years. The study was formulated as pre and post -test random group design, in which forty five men kabaddi players were divided into three equal groups. The experimental group 1 (n = 15, TRT group) underwent traditional resistance training, the experimental group 2 (n = 15, CT group) underwent complex training, and control group-3 (n= 15, CP) did not undergo any specific training. The dependent variables speed, muscular strength, explosive power, muscular strength endurance, agility, flexibility and VO2 max, were tested and measured by 50 meters run (in seconds), push-ups (in numbers), vertical jump test (in centimeters), sit ups test (in numbers),Illinois agility test (in seconds), sit and reach test (in centimeters), queens college step test (in ml/kg/min) respectively. Analysis of covariance was used to find out significant adjusted posttest mean difference of three groups with respect to each parameter and (LSD) post hoc test was used to find out pair-wise comparisons between groups with respect to each parameter. All the statistical analysis was carried out with the help of the software package of social science (SPSS 16.0) for WINDOWS. All the two training protocol have improved the selected performance parameters among the sample population. The speed, muscular strength, explosive power, muscular strength endurance, flexibility and VO2 max were highly influenced owing to complex training group than the traditional resistance training group. newlineKeywords: Traditional Resistance Training, Complex Training, Speed,Vo2 max, newline
