Abstract: | newline Electric power systems form the largest complex system. It consists of generation, transmission and distribution systems. The main goal of power system is to meet the load demand satisfying the relevant system constraints. For a stable operation of the system, both frequency and tie-line power should be maintained within the nominal values. This problem is known as AGC or LFC. Many a researchers work on AGC problem and contribute valuable research reports from time to time. Several control strategies have been investigated to improve performance of interconnected power systems. The main goal of this thesis is to develop some more accurate and efficient methodologies for solving LFC problem in cases of multi area power system with nonlinearities, multi area power system considering nonconventional sources, multi area power system in deregulated environment, and multi area power system using hybrid algorithm. Considering the present scenario, renewable energy sources are used in power system. Gas-fueled unit along with hydro-thermal units can be taken as a control area. In power system, as there is transition from traditional to deregulated environment, problem of LFC with renewable sources in deregulated power system is studied. Different optimization techniques are considered to optimize different classical controllers to improve system performance for both conventional and deregulated AGC system. Robustness of developed controllers and different used heuristic optimization algorithms is studied with wide range of variation in system parameters and loading conditions. |
