Abstract: newline Agriculture is the mainstay of the Indian economy and is the principle means newlineof livelihood for over 60 per cent of the population. Agriculture is backbone of the newlineIndian economy. India is primarily an agricultural economy, with almost two-third of newlineits population, make out their existence from farmland. However, challenges before newlineagriculture has been increasing such as environmental and technological changes, newlinehike in input price and fluctuation in output price these are the fundamental problems. newlineTherefore, there is need to apply intensive technique and diversification through newlinehorticulture production. Agriculture production can be classified in three fold such as newlineproduction of food- grain crops, commercial or cash crops and horticulture crops. The newlinegrowing importance of commercial horticulture is important segment in the national newlineincome. Horticulture includes vegetables, fruits and flower crop. newlineHorticulture being one of the most important sectors of the Indian agriculture. newlineIt plays important role in the economy of the country. Horticulture provides newlineemployment to millions of people in all over the world. Fruits and vegetables newlineconstitute a major part of this whole industry. Presently India is the world s second newlinelargest producer of fruits and vegetables after china.
